WILL GLASSELL PARK DRINK THE ROAD DIET “KOOL-AID”?

The community of Glassell Park is considering a road diet, or traffic lane reduction, along its Fletcher Drive commercial corridor between San Fernando Rd and Eagle Rock Blvd. The Fletcher Drive Streetscape Project (as the road diet plan is known) seeks to widen sidewalks, add medians and dedicated bike lanes, and reduce vehicular traffic lanes from 4 to 2 lanes.

Fletcher Drive serves as a major commuter corridor which often absorbs morning and evening spillover traffic from a congested 2 Freeway. In addition, Fletcher Drive is the only direct passageway to Eagle Rock Blvd for locals in the communities of Atwater Village, Elysian Valley and Silver Lake.

The Glassell Park Improvement Association will hold a town-hall meeting on the proposed plan on May 12, 2016. See link and flier below for details.
